Job Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will ensure that our complex web-scale systems are healthy, automated, redundant, and designed to scale.

  • You'll be responsible for the overall health, performance, and capacity of one or more of our Internet-facing services.
  • Develop deep knowledge of our complex applications.
  • Assist in rolling out and ramping up new product features and technologies to facilitate rapid iteration and constant growth.
  • Create tools to improve our ability to rapidly deploy and effectively monitor custom applications in a large-scale Linux environment.

Your responsibilities will also include participating in a 24x7 rotation for second-tier escalations.

Key Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical discipline, or related practical experience.
  • 5+ years experience with administration and troubleshooting of Unix/Linux systems.
  • 5+ years experience coding in one or more programming languages like Rust, Go, Python, Perl, Ruby etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years in a UNIX-based large-scale web operations role.
  • Experience with .NET, C#, Android or iOS development.
  • Experience in building systems automation and server backends with Python.
  • Experience with writing scalable programs in Rust/Golang/Python.
  • Previous experience working with geographically-distributed coworkers.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with Developers, SREs, Network Engineers, Product Managers, etc.
  • Knowledge of most of these: data structures, relational and non-relational databases, networking, Linux internals, filesystems, web architecture, and related topics.

Additional desired skills include knowledge of DNS, TCP, TLS, HTTP, familiarity with reverse proxies and CDNs, and proficiency in Python or Golang.
