Job Overview:

The role of Pit Superintendent plays a pivotal part in the operational success of our mining activities. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and executing plans to optimize production and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Oversight: To supervise, coordinate, and execute daily mining operations ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Equipment Management: To ensure the optimal utilization of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) and transportation equipment, maintaining their efficiency through regular maintenance and upkeep.
  • Maintenance of Infrastructure: To oversee the upkeep and maintenance of haul roads and in-pit floor areas to ensure smooth operation and minimize downtime.
  • Team Leadership: To lead and direct the activities of Mine Foreman, mining mates, WB employees, contractors' workmen, and other personnel involved in surface miners deployment and preparation.

Quality Control:

  • Quality Planning: To execute quality plans in consultation with geologists and provide feed materials as per blend plans with clay to meet plant requirements.
  • Corrective Actions: To implement corrective actions on deviations regarding quality, quantity, and efficiency by deploying Surface Miners and wheel Loaders according to quality planning.

Safety Management:

  • Safe Practices: To guide staff in implementing safe practices in line with Mines Safety Standards and procedures.
  • Risk Assessment: To identify and correct unsafe acts and conditions at all working locations to ensure the safety of all men and machines in every shift.
  • Compliance: To engage in Department meetings, SAM, GRT meetings, site rounds at shop floors, and timely submission of SO, Near Miss, and compliance to safety training.

Statutory Compliance:

  • Regulatory Requirements: To ensure actions are taken as per conditions of HEMM permission, Safety Management Plan, and EC Conditions.
  • Reporting: To prepare and submit all statutory returns without deviations, including contractors' returns.
  • Worker Coordination: To coordinate and comply with IME and PME of all workmen.

Process Improvement:

  • Continuous Improvement: To engage in tool box talks at every shift start and participate in Kaizen Suggestion, OPL, and motivating Staff/Workmen for continual improvement.
  • System Updates: To prepare DPR reports, MIS, M2, and M4 notifications in SAP on shift basis.
  • Documentation: Responsible to update QCDIP and LCM.
