Oracle Database Administrator Job Summary

This challenging and rewarding role involves overseeing the high availability, performance, and security of database systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Management: Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle databases in Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
  • High Availability: Configure RAC (Real Application Clusters), ASM (Automatic Storage Management), and clustering for high availability.
  • Connectivity and Network Services: Manage Oracle listener, network services, and connectivity.
  • Database Health and Performance Monitoring: Proactively monitor database health and availability using OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) and custom monitoring scripts.
  • SQL Query Tuning and Indexing: Perform advanced SQL query tuning, indexing strategies, and optimizer statistics management.
  • Performance Diagnostics and Tuning: Utilize AWR, ASH, ADDM reports for performance diagnostics and tuning.
  • Schema Design and Optimization: Optimize schema design, partitioning strategies, and storage allocation.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions using RMAN, Data Guard, and RAC.
  • Standby Databases: Configure and manage standby databases (physical/logical) for DR readiness.
  • DR Drills and Compliance: Validate backup integrity and conduct regular DR drills to guarantee RPO/RTO compliance and high availability SLAs.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement data encryption (TDE, Data Redaction, Network Encryption) and access control policies aligned with regulatory guidelines such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOX, RBI, and others.
  • Database Auditing and Logging: Manage database auditing, logging, and compliance reporting.
  • Automation and Integration: Develop shell scripts, PL/SQL scripts, and Ansible/Terraform playbooks to automate recurring DBA tasks, integrate database operations into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
