Electrical Design Engineer for Power Transformers

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in designing and developing power transformers.

About the Role

This is a challenging role that involves preparing electrical designs, performing calculations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and experience working with transformer design software tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical designs for power transformers, including electrical calculations and documentation.
  • Collaborate with sales, mechanical design, manufacturing, quality, testing, and service departments on technical topics related to electrical design.
  • Prepare technical specifications for ordering of components, estimate quantities for offers, and prepare technical documentation for offers.
  • Participate in various internal and external technical forums and contribute to the development of global design rules and R&D efforts.

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, 2-8 years of working experience as a design engineer in the field of power transformers, and strong conceptual knowledge and working experience of calculations and designing of transformers.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2-8 years of working experience as a design engineer in the field of power transformers.
  • Strong conceptual knowledge and working experience of calculations and designing of transformers.
  • Familiarity with American and international standards (e.g., IS, IEC, IEEE, ANSI) related to transformers, transformer components, and materials.
  • Experience in 2D CAD (e.g., AUTOCAD) software.
  • Detailed knowledge of materials and components such as core grades, winding copper, PICC, CTC, etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of various types of core construction, winding types like disc, helical, multi-start, multi-layer, etc.

A strong understanding of the principles of electrical engineering and the ability to apply this knowledge in a commercial environment is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment, are also required.
