About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer to join our team. As a Senior Backend Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex backend systems and APIs using C++.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex backend systems and APIs using C++.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve common goals and ensure efficient collaboration and synergy.
  • Develop strategic initiatives to achieve organisational objectives, utilising market research and data analysis to identify growth opportunities.
  • Drive operational efficiency by implementing process improvements and workflow optimisations to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
  • Foster innovation by encouraging a culture of innovation, promoting creativity, experimentation, and risk-taking, and fostering an environment where new ideas are welcomed and nurtured.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships by cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and vendors, to ensure alignment and satisfaction with organisational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations by staying abreast of relevant laws and regulations, developing compliance strategies, and overseeing implementation to mitigate risk and maintain legal and ethical standards.
  • Monitor performance metrics by establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly monitoring metrics to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in C++ with fair knowledge of the language specification.
  • Thorough knowledge of the standard library, STL containers, and algorithms.
  • Good understanding of memory management in non-garbage collected environments.
  • Understanding of dynamic polymorphism and C++ specific notions, such as friend classes.
  • Familiarity with templating in C++.
  • Knowledge of RESTful principles and best practices, also experience with Dragon Framework.
  • Good to have Websocket & Multicast.
  • Ability to design a system from scratch, familiar with microservices and sharding architecture.
  • Proficiency in deploying, managing, and optimising cloud infrastructure on platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), including services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and CloudWatch.
  • Knowledge of configuring and optimising web servers like NGINX for load balancing, reverse proxying, and caching, to enhance the performance and security of web applications and APIs.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming techniques and message queuing systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka, for handling background tasks, event-driven processing, and inter-service communication.
  • Understanding of security principles and best practices, including encryption, access controls, authentication, and authorisation, to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in using version control systems like Git for code management, collaboration, and deployment, including branching, merging, and resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and debug complex backend issues efficiently, utilising debugging tools, log analysis, and performance monitoring solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and participate in team discussions and code reviews.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment, contributing ideas, sharing knowledge, and supporting team members to achieve common goals and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and methodologies, staying abreast of industry trends and best practices to continuously improve skills and enhance job performance.
  • Strong attention to detail and a focus on delivering clean, well-documented, and maintainable code, following coding standards and best practices to ensure code quality and readability.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively, meet deadlines, and balance competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
