Mainframe Storage System Expertise

As a highly skilled Mainframe Storage System Engineer, you will be integral in ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of storage infrastructure.

Your expertise in mainframe storage subsystems will help meet data storage and management needs effectively.

  • Install, configure, and maintain Mainframe storage subsystems to ensure compatibility, performance, and reliability.
  • Perform storage capacity planning and provisioning to meet current and future storage requirements.
  • Configure and manage storage management software and utilities to automate storage administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor storage performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and optimizing data placement.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery and data replication solutions for Mainframe storage systems.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, database administrators, and application teams to support data backup and recovery operations and data migration projects.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for storage administration tasks.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to internal teams and end-users, troubleshooting and resolving storage-related issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience is required.

A minimum of 8 years of experience in Mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management is also necessary.

Familiarity with storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm is expected.

Knowledge of storage virtualization technologies and concepts, including DASD, VTS, and SAN/NAS storage provisioning is required.

Understanding of storage networking protocols and technologies, such as FICON, Fibre Channel, and SCSI is essential.
