About Rancho Labs

Rancho Labs, an ed-tech startup, is seeking a skilled Interior Design Intern to join their team. This individual will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing the Makerspace, a hub for innovation and hands-on learning.

Job Summary

This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in designing educational spaces and gaining real-world experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of interior design principles and be able to work collaboratively with the team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and present concepts for the Makerspace, focusing on functionality, flexibility, and aesthetics.
  • Use design software to create 3D models and visualizations, ensuring designs meet the company's vision.
  • Research and recommend furniture, fixtures, and materials that align with the makerspace's needs.
  • Work with the educational team to ensure the space meets the needs of students, instructors, and workshop facilitators.
  • Assist in identifying suppliers and obtaining quotes for materials and furniture within the project budget.
  • Incorporate safety standards and ADA compliance considerations into the design of the space.
  • Prepare mood boards, sketches, renderings, and technical drawings for design proposals and final design documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with interior design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or other relevant tools.
  • Creative & Analytical Skills: Strong eye for detail with the ability to visualize creative, functional, and student-centered spaces.
  • Interest in Educational Spaces: Passionate about designing spaces that support learning, creativity, and collaboration for children.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to present ideas clearly, both visually and verbally, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Organizational Skills: Capable of managing time effectively, multitasking, and meeting deadlines.
