Project Overview

Bechtel Corporation is collaborating with a prominent Indian company to provide Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services and Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for offsites and utilities (OSBL) for a multi-billion-dollar upgrade / expansion of their existing petrochemical facilities in India.

The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region, the project sites in India, as well as several key contractor locations across India.

As a key member of the integrated team, you will bring your expertise to the PMC role while working within the customer's organization.

Position Summary

Candidate is responsible for assigned activities within the Mechanical engineering discipline on the project.

Applicant must have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and monitor Contractors' engineering progress for rotating equipment.
  • Review the design scope and deliverables of specific discipline to ensure Contractors perform all work to agreed standards for safety, health, and environment.
  • Develop Engineering Procedures, design guides, specifications, instructions, philosophies, and design criteria.
  • Work with other lead discipline engineers to ensure that all interfaces between disciplines are clearly defined and recorded.
  • Coordinate with other leaders to ensure that multi-discipline interfaces are properly addressed with resolution of technical issues and conflicting design requirements in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical oversight for rotating equipment by conducting review of the following deliverables, design reviews and tasks: Mechanical Equipment Specifications, Mechanical Equipment Datasheets, Material Requisitions for Quote and Purchase, Technical Bid Evaluations, Inspection and Test Plans, Vendor document review, Inspection reports, etc.
  • Coordinate and participate in reviews of Contractors' engineering documents/deliverables within discipline to ensure compliance with the contract requirements, including project procedures, project specifications and applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide necessary support to Equipment list, P&ID, HAZOP/HAZID, Model reviews, studies, etc.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to project management.
  • Facilitate technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators).
  • Promote the creation of a work environment supported by leadership which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Participate in project technical reviews, progress, and review meetings.
Qualifications
  • Applicant must have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree.
Desirable
  • Rotating/Packaged Equipment experience, relevant to oil, gas and chemicals related design engineering.
  • A professional license or Chartered Engineer status in an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline, from a recognized licensing board or engineering council preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of rotating/packaged equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, water treatment, etc.) and electric motors.
  • Strong background with API 610 Centrifugal pumps and API 617 Centrifugal Compressors and gas seal systems.
  • Experience in writing equipment design specifications for rotating/packaged equipment.
  • Specific industry and technology experience in Petrochemicals (Cracker, Polyethylene, Polypropylene, PVC, VCM, PTA, PET) is a plus.
  • Through knowledge of applicable ASME, API and ISO standards.
  • Experience with field installation / commissioning activities for rotating/packaged equipment is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of the application of Engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials.
  • Thorough understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including construction practices and the economics involved.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication. Able to work in project groups with shared-work teams globally, to progress project designs.
