Job Summary

  •   Work on cost-out projects for Low Voltage Switchgear products including Contactor, Switch Disconnector, Motor Protection Circuit Breaker and Push buttons.
  •   Collaborate with global stakeholders to execute projects through idea generation, design, testing and implementation phases.
  •   Ensure product compliance with international design standards like IEC, UL, CSA, NEMA or any other relevant standard.
  •   Conduct system/component sizing, designing, simulation and testing activities to meet Low Voltage Switchgear requirements.
  •   Modify existing products to meet customer, manufacturing, regulatory and industry requirements through Change Management process.
  •   Have experience in current path design, mechanism design and arc quenching principles.
  •   Knowledge of plastic materials and their use based on properties and requirements is necessary. Familiarity with GD&T principles and clearance/creepage calculations is also required.
  •   Experience in different manufacturing processes related to contacts and plastics (bending, riveting, welding, brazing and injection molding) is essential.
  •   Understanding of low voltage switchgear standards according to IEC/UL/CSA/CCC codes will enable the development of test plans.
  •   Execution of tests for EN60947 / UL Temperature rise, Short circuit, Make/Break, sequence tests etc. is a must.
  •   Assess test results, perform root cause analysis through test findings/failures and take corrective/preventive actions.
  •   Responsible for design engineering analysis on current path, mechanism, spring, bimetals, housing, actuator circuit, arc chamber, coils etc.
  •   Review reliability predictions, familiar with Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and read structural/thermal/CFD/MBD results.
  •   Complete design (2D drawings/3D Models) in UG-NX or Solid works.
  •   Knowledge on PLM systems (Enovia, SAP) is desirable.
  •   Innovation mindset is expected.
Requirements
  •   BE/M.tech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  •   6-9 yrs. Experience in Product Design
Skills
  •   Cost-out projects for Low Voltage Switchgear products: Contactor/Switch Disconnector/Motor Protection Circuit Breaker/Push buttons
  •   Experience in switchgear industry having worked on NTI/NPI/Sustaining projects for Contactor, Switch Disconnector, Motor Protection Circuit Breaker or similar products. VAVE project experience is an advantage.
  •   Team player, good communication skills and ability to work in a global/virtual environment
