Job Summary:

The Internal Control Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness of our internal controls over financial reporting. This includes performing control testing, applying company policies and procedures, and evaluating risk.

This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or related field, and at least 1 year of relevant experience in Risk & Compliance or Internal Control roles.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of US GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes-Oxley, COSO framework, and leading business practices. They will also be proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Control Testing: Perform control testing to provide reasonable assurance that our internal controls are designed and operating effectively.
  2. Policies and Procedures: Apply company policies, procedures, and accounting standards accurately, seeking advice as necessary, and evaluate implications of new information or events in a timely manner.
  3. Risk Evaluation: Review key business processes to identify opportunities for best practices and improvements, maintaining data integrity concepts to ensure completeness and accuracy of data.
  4. Problem Solving: Determine alternative solutions to problems, evaluate courses of action, and reach sound business decisions.
  5. Documentation: Document accurate, logical, and detailed workpapers describing review objectives, test procedures, results, and conclusions using internal audit methodologies, procedures, and standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or related field is preferred.
  • US GAAP Knowledge: Understanding of US GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes-Oxley, COSO framework, and leading business practices.
  • Relevant Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience in Risk & Compliance or Internal Control roles, finance experience preferred.
  • Certifications: CPA required, other certifications preferred (CIA, CISA, etc.).
  • Skills: Energetic, self-starter with a strong focus on continuous improvement initiatives. Ability to multitask, demonstrate strong organization skills, and adapt to an ever-changing environment.
