Scientific Editor - Medical Science

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Scientific Editor to join our team in Chennai. As a key member of our medical science section, you will be responsible for managing the publication process of assigned manuscripts in a growing open access journal.

You will work closely with the Heliyon team to develop the journal's processes and content, building effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and Elsevier.

This is a full-time editorial position based in Chennai, with opportunities for travel to conferences to engage with researchers.

Responsibilities:
  • Actively manage the publication process of assigned manuscripts
  • Work with the Heliyon team to develop the journal's processes and content
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and Elsevier
  • Represent the journal at conferences and other events
Requirements:
  • Relevant doctoral degree in medical science (PhD, MD)
  • Deep knowledge and research experience in infectious diseases, cancer research, pharmacology, and toxicology
  • Broad scientific interests and a passion for helping scientists publish their work
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize, focus, and achieve desired goals
  • Creativity, decisiveness, attention to detail, willingness to experiment, and continuous improvement mindset
  • Excellent interactive and team working skills, as well as ability to work independently
