Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Search Engineer to design and implement advanced search features using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch. The ideal candidate will have experience with custom analysers, tokenisers, and scoring algorithms.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop search solutions that meet complex business requirements.
  • Create and maintain index templates, mappings, and lifecycle policies for data integrity, performance, and scalability.
  • Build and optimise query builders and search pipelines tailored to business needs.
  • Leverage LLMs and AI for data enrichment and improved search relevance.
  • Develop APIs for search using Python (FastAPI).
  • Lead efforts in integration, regression, and performance testing for reliable and accurate search features.
  • Automate deployment and management of search infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in production environments.
  • Experience with AI/LLM-based search experiences.
  • Expert level expertise in Python, with API building experience.
  • Deep understanding of search concepts: analysers, tokenisers, and relevance tuning.
  • Index template management, lifecycle policies, and large-scale data modelling experience.
  • Proficiency in designing and optimising search pipelines and query builders.
  • Practical hands-on experience developing software using AI-assisted tools and workflows.
  • Strong testing background: integration, regression, and performance testing.
  • DevOps skills: automation, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with S3, AWS Lambda, and cloud-native architectures.
