Chief Mechanical Engineering Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of systems integration across chamber design, precision motion, enclosure development, safety interlocks, and scaling mechanical builds.
About This OpportunityThis role offers the chance to shape the mechanical architecture of our Scanning Electron Microscope, ensuring it is compact, precise, and reliable. As a key member of our founding team, you will be responsible for designing and developing the instrument's vacuum chamber, motion stage, and enclosure.
Main Responsibilities:- Design for Speed, Stability, and Serviceability: Develop quick specimen exchange, accurate and repeatable motion, clean routing, and easy field-replaceable swaps.
- Develop Assembly and Test Playbook: Create fixtures, torque specs, metrology checks, and drive it from prototype to pilot builds.
- Qualify and Scale Suppliers: Partner with India-based and global suppliers to improve yield and finish quality.
- Lead System-Level Integration: Balance optics, electronics, thermal, acoustic, and safety needs.
- Precision Electromechanical Systems Experience: Deliver scientific instruments, automation, or similar.
- Vacuum Practice and Precision Motion: Comfortable with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, design for manufacturability.
- Hands-on Problem-Solver: Ergonomics and field-service expertise required.
