Embedded Hardware Design Engineer Position

This is a challenging role for an embedded hardware design engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Derive hardware requirement specifications and interface specifications for software.
  • Propose innovative hardware ideas and apply technical expertise to solve complex design challenges.
  • Contribute to the integration of various hardware sub-systems of the product, including cables and connectors, into the mechanical assembly.

The ideal candidate should have experience in new product development, from feasibility prototype to mass production. A strong understanding of PCB layout techniques, signal integrity, high-speed routing, and EMI reduction techniques is also essential.

Additionally, the candidate should have hands-on experience with circuit simulation tools, schematic and layout tools, and requirement management and traceability tools. Familiarity with DFM/DFA/DFT principles is also beneficial.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • BE/Btech/ME/Mtech in Electrical/Electronics/Biomedical/Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5-8 years of experience in embedded hardware development.
Technical Competency

The ideal candidate should have the following technical skills:

  • End-to-end experience in new product development - from feasibility prototype to mass production.
  • Strong expertise in STM32 microcontroller architecture, peripheral configuration, and application integration.
  • Proficient in digital communication interfaces: SPI, I2C, RS-485, UART.
  • Skilled in analog circuit design using op-amps (comparators, filters), interfacing with ADC/DAC.
  • Practical knowledge of DC-DC power supply design (buck converters), power sequencing, protection circuits (e.g.: over-voltage, under-voltage, short-circuit) and thermal design.
System-Level Design

The candidate should have experience in system-level integration and HW-SW integration, as well as multi-board architecture and signal/power distribution.

Tool Competency

The candidate should be familiar with circuit simulation tools, schematic and layout tools, and requirement management and traceability tools.

Awareness of DFX Principles

Familiarity with DFM/DFA/DFT principles is beneficial.

Behavioral Competency

The candidate should possess good analytical skills, a passion for success, and be proactive.

They should also be flexible, hands-on, and willing to learn new technologies, and be a good team player with good collaboration skills.

Additional Competency/Experience

The candidate should have awareness of medical standards IEC60601-1 and familiarity with embedded programming is a plus.
