Oncology Prior Authorization Specialist

The role of an Oncology Prior Authorization Specialist is critical in ensuring timely access to oncology treatments. As a specialist, you will collaborate closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and specialty pharmacies to streamline patient care.

Key responsibilities include ePA management, clinical documentation review, payer collaboration, case tracking, education and support, oncology access updates, and documentation and reporting. To excel in this role, candidates should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

  • ePA Management: Process electronic prior authorizations through CoverMyMeds, focusing on oncology medications.
  • Clinical Documentation Review: Ensure completeness and accuracy of clinical documentation for payer submission.
  • Payer Collaboration: Work with payers, healthcare providers, and specialty pharmacies to resolve prior authorization and reimbursement issues.
  • Case Tracking: Monitor and track prior authorization requests, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Education and Support: Educate prescribers' offices and staff on CoverMyMeds processes and payer requirements.
  • Oncology Access Updates: Stay updated on oncology drug access pathways, insurance policies, and payer-specific rules.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document case activities accurately in CRM or patient management systems.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, pharmacy, life sciences, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience using CoverMyMeds, specifically in prior authorization processing.
  • Strong background in oncology medication access, reimbursement, or patient services.
  • Familiarity with specialty pharmacy operations and payer requirements.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
