Special Music Educator Position

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Special Music Educator to join our dynamic team. As a music educator, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with multiple disabilities and guiding participants in our curriculum.

The ideal candidate must have expertise in designing and implementing music lessons that cater to diverse learners' needs. They should possess training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices and experience working with communication aids.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation.
  • Encourage self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation through music.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assess student progress and contribute to Individualised Education Programs.
  • Maintain a safe and structured classroom environment, managing behaviour sensitively according to our positive behaviour support policies.
  • Organise performances, music therapy sessions, and events to showcase students' abilities.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Carnatic/Hindustani Music or Certificate course in Music Therapy.
  • 3-7 years of experience working with children in a mainstream or special school setting.
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies, adaptive music education, and the Tamil language.
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing.
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude are essential for this role.
