We are seeking a highly skilled UNIX Systems Engineer to join our team at BirlaSoft. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and capacity planning of our UNIX operating systems.
Key Responsibilities- Install, configure, and maintain UNIX operating systems on standalone and virtual machines.
- Analyze and resolve problems associated with the operating system's servers, hardware, applications, and software.
- Detect, diagnose, and report UNIX-related problems on servers.
- Provide daily support for management for all of Unix operating system including capacity utilization, OS Patches, storage allocation, volume management, and hardware maintenance.
- Manage operating system installation and administration of all UNIX environments.
- Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes. Analyzes capacity data and develops capacity plans for appropriate level enterprise-wide systems. Coordinates with appropriate management personnel in implementing changes.
- To perform OS hardening by following standard policy.
- Maintain documentation of AIX hardware and software components and user and operator procedures.
- Perform performance maintenance routines to ensure continuous system availability.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
- Experience with AIX/Solaris and RHEL recent versions, performance monitoring and tuning tools, installation options, problem determination and recovery.
- Experience in Ansible playbooks and Automation is mandatory.
- Experience in Containers / Kubernetes an added advantage.
- Experience with IBM architectures, Oracle Servers and Dell server technology.
- Experience writing and debugging shell scripts in a standard UNIX shell.
- Experience with NIM.
- Experience with UNIX performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Experience with high availability architectures and concepts (HACMP/PowerHA, Solaris Cluster, Veritas Cluster and Pacemaker Linux).
- Good interpersonal skills to interact with clients and co-workers.
Our competitive salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $120,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to a salary, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
