The Senior Site Reliability Engineer is a pivotal role in ensuring the robustness, scalability, and high performance of mission-critical systems. This position demands close collaboration with development and operations teams to construct and maintain infrastructure, optimize system reliability, and automate processes wherever possible.
- Establish and maintain monitoring tools and dashboards for system health, performance, and capacity planning to ensure seamless operations.
- Develop and implement automation for repetitive tasks, including deployments, scaling, and maintenance, to minimize manual intervention and enhance efficiency.
- Respond to incidents, lead post-incident analysis, and drive efforts to prevent recurrences through thorough root cause analysis.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in infrastructure, databases, applications, and networking to guarantee optimal system performance.
- Collaborate with development teams to design systems that are highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and optimized for performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and improve delivery cycles, thereby enhancing the overall quality of deliverables.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, ensuring that systems are resilient and capable of rapid recovery from potential disruptions.
- Monitor and forecast resource utilization and implement cost-effective scaling strategies to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Ensure that all systems meet or exceed security and compliance requirements, guaranteeing the integrity of sensitive data.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems and processes, providing mentorship and sharing knowledge with team members to promote skill development and growth within the organization.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of 3-6 years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps, or Infrastructure role, with a strong understanding of technical concepts and their application in real-world scenarios.
- Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Python, NodeJS, Bash, etc.) and hands-on experience with AWS cloud platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to analyze complex systems, diagnose issues, and drive improvements.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as New relic, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog, or equivalent.
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Code Pipeline, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or equivalent, and version control experience with Git and best practices.
- Containerization and orchestration experience with Docker and Kubernetes, and a strong understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, load balancing, VPNs, and firewalls.
You should also possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, with a strong emphasis on technical studies.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, coupled with strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong analytic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and complexities.
- A plus if you have experience in scaling processes for growing product teams and exposure to working with cross-functional teams such as Product, Engineering, Design, and Customer Success.
