About the Role

The Chief Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the financial operations of Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai run smoothly and efficiently. This individual will be responsible for directing the efforts, quality, and timeliness of all aspects of the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general cashiering.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Direct the efforts, quality, and timeliness of all aspects of the general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general cashiering.
  2. Identify with the responsibilities of the Assistant Controller and act as delegate whenever possible to assist and, in their absence, substitute for the Assistant Controller.
  3. Perform with accuracy and timeliness all accounting and financial reporting, books, and records.
  4. Maintain the effectiveness of internal control to safeguard the assets and resources of the hotel.
  5. Maintain all books and records of the hotel with regard to recording and custody, including general ledger, books of original entry, source documents, and vouchers through income audit.
  6. Maintain the program of records control, security, retention, and disposal in accordance with hotel policy and procedures.
  7. Ensure accurate and timely daily, monthly, and other periodic accounting and financial reporting.
  8. Safeguard the cash assets through monthly bank reconciliations, cash counts of all issued banks, including general cashier, and reporting malfeasors to the insurance carrier.
  9. Participate in the physical inventory counts and the subsequent accuracy of count, price, and valuation.
  10. Safeguard the revenue resources of the hotel through accurate and timely recording and checking of all sales revenues and settlement transactions.
  11. Prepare the work papers as instruments to provide analysis and control over balance sheet and center P&L accounts and to serve the purpose of internal and external audits.
  12. Provide for the efficiency of accounting and internal control systems through recommendation, enforcement, training, and implementation and review.
  13. Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  14. Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
