Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Neonatal Intensivist to lead our team of healthcare professionals in providing high-quality care to premature and critically ill newborns.

  • Manage the care of premature and low birth weight infants, as well as those with respiratory distress, sepsis, jaundice, HIE, cardiac or congenital anomalies.
  • Perform necessary neonatal procedures, including intubation, umbilical line insertion, surfactant administration, LP, exchange transfusion, etc.
NICU Monitoring & Protocols
  • Monitor vital parameters, labs, ventilator settings, and imaging reports.
  • Supervise and implement NICU protocols for infection control, feeding, thermoregulation, etc.
Delivery Room Support
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal resuscitation per NRP guidelines.
  • Coordinate with obstetricians for pre-delivery risk planning.
  • Ensure immediate stabilization and transfer to NICU if needed.
Family Counseling & Communication
  • Provide regular updates and compassionate counseling to parents.
  • Discuss prognosis, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Support decisions around palliative care when necessary.
Academic, Teaching & Research (For Teaching Hospitals)
  • Teach and mentor pediatric residents, interns, nurses, and fellows.
  • Conduct bedside rounds, academic presentations, and case reviews.
  • Participate in neonatal research, audits, and clinical trials.
  • Support DNB/MD curriculum in Pediatrics/Neonatology (if applicable).
Quality Assurance & Documentation
  • Maintain meticulous patient records, consent forms, and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in NICU quality improvement initiatives, mortality and morbidity meetings.
  • Ensure adherence to NACO, IAP, and NABH guidelines.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • MBBS + MD/DNB in Pediatrics
  • DM / DNB in Neonatology OR Fellowship in Neonatology (IAP/NNF recognized)
  • Valid registration with State or National Medical Council

Desirable:

  • NRP, PALS, and BLS certified
  • Experience in Level 3 NICU (preferred for senior roles)
  • Academic teaching or NICU leadership experience
Skills & Competencies
  • Advanced clinical judgment and neonatal resuscitation skills
  • Expertise in neonatal procedures and ventilation
  • Clear, empathetic communication with families and staff
  • Leadership in NICU teamwork and interdisciplinary care
  • Strong documentation and compliance ethics
  • Familiarity with EMR/NICU software and monitoring systems
