Civil Design Engineer Job Overview

The role of a Civil Design Engineer is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of solar projects on-site. They bridge the gap between the Head Office Design Team and the Site Execution Team, overseeing that site-specific designs align with approved engineering plans.

As a key member of the project team, Civil Design Engineers are responsible for reviewing and interpreting designs issued by the Head Office, preparing modifications as needed, and performing structural calculations to ensure site-specific changes meet design requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and interpreting HO-issued drawings and designs for implementation at site.
  • Preparing or modifying civil designs/drawings at site when required.
  • Performing structural calculations and basic engineering design for site-specific changes.
  • Developing detailed civil/structural drawings using AutoCAD or other software.

Skills and Qualifications:

A strong foundation in civil/structural design principles, proficiency in drafting tools (AutoCAD, STAAD), and knowledge of solar project-specific civil works are essential. The ability to create quick design solutions while adhering to codes and safety norms is also crucial. Excellent communication and coordination skills with both Head Office and site teams are necessary to ensure seamless project execution.

Education Requirements:

Minimum qualifications include a B.E./B.tech in Civil Engineering, with 5–8 years of experience in civil design and site execution (solar/renewable/industrial projects preferred). Hands-on experience in AutoCAD/structural design software is required, and familiarity with IS codes and solar industry standards will be beneficial.
