Naval Architecture Expert

We are seeking an experienced Naval Architect to join our team and help drive innovation in the field of vessel digitalization. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development of digital solutions for large container ships, focusing on fuel consumption-power curves, vessel hydrodynamic performance models, and predictive models for parametric/synchronous rolling in rough sea weather conditions.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Analyzing container ship operations data to identify areas for improvement
  • Conceptualizing and building digital twins of large container vessels
  • Identifying relevant data needed to build digital twins
  • Guiding data scientists with domain inputs for building digital twins
  • Building digital twin models that include fuel performance curves, vessel hydrodynamic stability, and other models as needed
  • Modeling the effects of windage, vessel speed, drift, trim, heel, hull condition, propeller condition, engine condition, waves impact, wind impact, currents impact, and other parameters affecting fuel consumption
  • Building derived parameters like trim, metacentric height, windage, etc., from various sources of base data
  • Building tactical solutions for avoiding parametric and synchronous rolling
  • Sharing vessel digital twin models for weather re-routing where necessary
  • Building AI/ML solutions that recommend vessel speed through water, overconsumption alerts, fouling margin, etc.


To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in naval architecture, with 12-20 years of experience in ship design, vessel digitalization, and fuel performance curves. Additionally, you should have hands-on experience with building or running solutions like vessel digital twins, vessel hydrodynamic simulations, and data science subjects like simulation, optimization, and machine learning models. Strong consulting skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to guide teams on developing analytics solution blueprints are also essential.
