Job Overview

  • This is a high-level leadership role responsible for overseeing the entire infrastructure operations of an organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a comprehensive infrastructure strategy that aligns with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
  • Analyze existing infrastructure effectiveness and efficiency, and develop strategies to improve or leverage these systems.
  • Negotiate purchases of software, hardware, and other IT supplies as approved by management.
  • Manage inventory of software licenses, software, hardware, and other IT supplies.
  • Collaborate with senior management and peers on matters requiring acceptance of alternative approaches.
  • Oversee outsourced teams for daily operations and activities.
  • Develop solutions to complex business problems that require in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
  • Perform live disaster recovery activities and drills periodically.
  • Maintain working knowledge of servers, storage, databases, operating systems (Windows and Linux), and networks.
  • Ensure production incident management and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in infrastructure management, including both on-premise data centers and cloud infrastructures.
  • Program and project management expertise.
  • Planning and executing infrastructure-related projects.
  • In-depth hands-on knowledge of infrastructure, including servers, storage, databases, operating systems (Windows and Linux), and networks.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing.

Functional Competencies

  • Ability to perform infrastructure discovery assessments and transformation strategies.
  • Holistic understanding of all data center functions (production operations, change control, DR/business recovery, helpdesk, systems management, and facilities).
  • Experience with private and public cloud architectures, pros/cons, and migration considerations.
