Senior Redshift Engineer

Job Description:

At our company, we are looking for a highly skilled Senior Redshift Engineer to join our team and support clients in architecting, optimizing, and scaling AWS Redshift environments.

This role involves leading architecture review and validation for multiple AWS Redshift clusters, validating sizing assumptions, and providing right-sizing recommendations. You will also define and implement operational excellence best practices, establish key performance indicators, and analyze and optimize query performance.

As a strategic resource, you will collaborate with client teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Redshift environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead architecture review and validation for multiple AWS Redshift clusters
  • Validate sizing assumptions and provide right-sizing recommendations
  • Define and implement operational excellence best practices
  • Establish key performance indicators and health metrics for Redshift platforms
  • Analyze and optimize query performance
  • Establish schema governance and define change management/version control processes
  • Define a clear, auditable process for deploying new tables, columns, and views
  • Act as a strategic, consultative resource
  • Collaborate with client teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and efficiency of Redshift environments

Required Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for an individual with 5+ years of experience in data engineering or database administration, with deep hands-on expertise in AWS Redshift. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in cluster architecture review, sizing, and right-sizing recommendations, strong background in query performance tuning, schema optimization, and workload management.

The candidate should also possess expert-level knowledge of Redshift fundamentals, including table design, WLM tuning, vacuum operations, and concurrency scaling. Additionally, they should be able to develop and implement operational best practices and demonstrated expertise in schema governance, version control, and structured change management.
