Senior Technical Program Manager



Job Description

The role of Senior Technical Program Manager is pivotal in driving the successful execution of large, high-impact programs that leverage deep technical expertise to develop detailed plans with key milestones and goals. This position requires identifying and mitigating risks, solving for dependencies, removing impediments, and ensuring timely and smooth program launches.



This involves managing multiple concurrent projects/programs, developing strong partnerships with engineering and product management leaders to drive focus on strategic and tactical program objectives, and driving teams and individuals in planning and executing roadmaps, releases, and work backlogs.



The ideal candidate will have a solid track record of program management and demonstrated excellent technical, leadership, organizational, and communication skills. They will also be able to build collaborations and create a community of leadership, and possess business strategy understanding and product intuition.



Responsibilities:



  • Own successful delivery of large, high-impact and highly cross-functional programs by leveraging deep technical expertise
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects/programs
  • Develop strong partnerships with engineering and product management leaders
  • Drive teams and individuals in planning and executing roadmaps, releases, and work backlogs
  • Ensure cross-team alignment on goals, priorities, roadmap, schedules, communications, and releases to all stakeholders
  • Provide reporting on project status, risks, issues, and mitigation plans
  • Identify gaps, unblock issues, and drive alignment between groups and functions
  • Create a collaborative work environment that fosters shared understanding, transparency, mastery, autonomy, innovation, and continuous learning
  • Coach and mentor others in the best practices of modern technical planning and execution


Basic Qualifications:

Education: B.S./B.A. degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience



Experience: 8+ years of full-time technical program management experience within an engineering or technical team



Preferred Qualifications:

Skills: Agile coaching and practitioner experience (Scrum, Kanban) with multiple teams, risk management, software product development, program management, cross-functional team leadership
