Job Title: Automation Specialist

We are seeking an accomplished Automation Specialist to develop and implement complex automation solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in configuration management, infrastructure as code (IaC), and CI/CD pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, maintain, and optimize Chef cookbooks and recipes to automate deployment, configuration, and management of infrastructure and applications.
  • Plan and implement complex automation solutions for streamlining infrastructure provisioning, application deployments, and environment configurations.
  • Liaise with DevOps engineers, developers, and other stakeholders to comprehend their automation requirements and deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
  • Integrate Chef cookbooks into the CI/CD pipelines to achieve continuous integration and delivery of changes in infrastructure.
  • On Chef, design, implement, and manage infrastructure as code namely, consistent, repeatable, and scalable across multi-environments.
  • Develop automated tests of Chef cookbooks on tools like Test Kitchen, InSpec, or similar, to ensure high-quality and reliable code.
  • Create documentation of Chef cookbooks, recipes, and other associated automation processes and maintain records of these.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of Chef cookbooks and the automation process.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • More than 3 years of DevOps or System Administration experience with strong exposure to automation and configuration management.
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining Chef cookbooks and recipes.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines and integrating Chef with tools such as Jenkins or similar.

Technical skills include strong proficiency in Chef, Ruby, and other scripting languages such as Python and Bash. Hands-on cloud experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP to automate infrastructure on these platforms. Familiarity with Git version control or similar and collaborative platforms such as Bitbucket, GitHub, etc. Strong knowledge of general principles of networking and system administration. Preferred qualifications include Chef certification or equivalent DevOps/automation certifications. Familiarity with other configuration management software such as Puppet, Ansible, etc. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools: ELK stack, Splunk, Prometheus. Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc.
