Senior AWS Redshift Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Redshift Engineer to join our team and support our clients in architecting, optimizing, and scaling AWS Redshift environments.

The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise in AWS Redshift, strong background in query performance tuning, schema optimization, and workload management.

Demonstrated expertise in schema governance, version control, and structured change management is essential.

Excellent communication and consultative skills are required to clearly articulate solutions to technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead architecture review and validation for multiple AWS Redshift clusters
  • Validate sizing assumptions and provide right-sizing recommendations
  • Define and implement operational excellence best practices (runbooks, monitoring, alerting)
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and health metrics for Redshift platforms
  • Analyze and optimize query performance (workload patterns, schema design, tuning)
  • Establish schema governance and define change management/version control processes
  • Define a clear, auditable process for deploying new tables, columns, and views
Requirements / Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in data engineering or database engineering/administration
  • Proven experience in cluster architecture review, sizing, and right-sizing recommendations
  • Strong background in query performance tuning, schema optimization, and workload management
  • Expert-level knowledge of Redshift fundamentals: table design (Distribution and Sort Keys), WLM tuning, vacuum operations, concurrency scaling
  • Ability to develop and implement operational best practices (runbooks, monitoring, alerting)
  • Demonstrated expertise in schema governance, version control, and structured change management
  • Excellent communication and consultative skills—able to clearly articulate solutions to technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience working in client-facing roles within professional services, consulting, or enterprise environments
About You:

You will be responsible for leading architecture review and validation for multiple AWS Redshift clusters.

You will validate sizing assumptions and provide right-sizing recommendations.

You will define and implement operational excellence best practices (runbooks, monitoring, alerting).
