Electrical Design Specialist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for utilizing technical knowledge to prepare bills of material for quotation packages and detailed design and engineering post-order conversion for various MV & LV switchgear products.

The role requires the ability to develop quotations from material takeoff from engineered plans, provide consistent responsive quality service to customers, build and maintain close relationships with stakeholders involved in the quotation development process, stay updated on new products trends and product developments, coordinate with internal Quote Support Groups to ensure schedules are met and project requirements are met, gather required information for quote preparation, utilize product knowledge and experience to make judgment and discretionary decisions regarding product specifications and solutions necessary for a specific project, actively participate in coordinating analyzing and acting upon information and feedback of customer needs products competition and processes determine and suggest suitable substitute products wherever possible layout and configuration of switchgear design of control schemes using PLCs and/or relays to accomplish automated transfer operations creation of electrical one-line elevation drawing schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD design of ground fault protective schemes including those involving multiple sources generation of bills of material and modification of standard assemblies as required to suit the application interpreting customer requirements by reading customer documents such as customer one-line specification layout drawing etc ensure assignments are within design budget and schedule limitations communicate project concerns and suggestions verbally and in writing with the Project Manager and Engineering Manager participate in proposal acceptance reviews offering acceptance or recommendations for improvement on the systems engineering scope of work and labor hours estimated on the proposed project provide virtual technical support for shop floor for orders engineered take up stretched assignments as and when needed.
