Job Title: Project Controls Manager

Overview:

The Project Controls Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects by effectively managing and monitoring project schedules, costs, and resources.

About the Role:

  • To provide strategic support to project managers in the development and implementation of project controls plans.
  • To collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and compliance with organizational goals and objectives.
  • To analyze data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, and develop recommendations for process enhancements.
  • To lead change control and baseline management processes, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of project performance.
  • To facilitate effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders, including project managers, team members, and senior leadership.

Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Management

To participate in project planning processes, defining scopes, resource planning, and establishing WBS and budgets on assigned projects.

To measure current performance and predict future performance of the project/programme using valid performance measurement techniques such as earned value management.

To create and implement project controls plans and lead project schedules, associated deliverables, and progress S curves to support contract requirements and the successful execution of project controls.

To act as a subject matter expert (SME) in Earned Value Management (EVM), providing training and guidance to project teams as needed.

To drive decision-making to improve project performance across sectors, leveraging data-driven insights and analytical expertise.

To manage the development and maintenance of project dashboards, reports, and scorecards to facilitate stakeholder engagement and informed decision-making.

To work closely with finance teams to ensure accurate and timely invoicing, UBR, and Debtors to associated customers.

Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate or graduate in an engineering discipline.
  • Professional Project Management Certification (preferably from PMI) or Post Graduate degree in Project Engineering and Management or Post Graduate degree in Advanced Construction Management.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Project Controls for large-scale complex projects across sectors.

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience with Cost Control, Scheduling (Waterfall/Agile/Lean/Scrum), and Time Management.
  • Proven expertise in a Project Management or Project Controls Management position, specifically within complex Capex projects across sectors.
  • Successful leadership experience with a proven track record of delivering results within a large-scale project environment.
  • Proficiency in Earned Value Management (EVM) processes and their application in complex large-scale projects, with a strong aptitude for overseeing schedule, cost, risk, change control management activities, and reporting.
