Functional Tester Job Description

The role of a Functional Tester is to conduct requirement-gathering sessions, identify and design test plans, write detailed test cases by analyzing specific business processes and user requirements, and test deliverables to meet client objectives.

Day-to-day activities include:

  • Coordinating with Business Analysts/Developers to understand the requirements.
  • Checking the impact of changes in business operations.
  • Understanding testing principles and practices.
  • Ability to plan, design, review and execute test cases and test plans.
Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities:

  • Understanding testing principles and practices.
  • Ability to plan, design, review and execute test cases and test plans.
  • Ability to understand JIRA workflow.
  • Ability to run SQL statements to check data for applications.

Contributing Responsibilities:

  • Team player.
  • Effective communication of work status and delivery status.
  • Adherence to timelines set for delivery.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies

Technical Requirements:

  • Experience in Banking/Finance space, especially Global Banking (Payments, Credits, Trade).
  • Good communication skills with good client-facing skills.
  • Understanding of Software Development/Testing Life Cycle (SDLC/STLC).
  • Knowledge of SQL and working in Microsoft Excel.
  • Having good SQL knowledge for creating dashboards in JIRA.
  • Knowledge of Automation is nice to have.
