Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Security Expert with expertise in HashiCorp Vault and a strong background in DevOps tools and technologies.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Linux administration, Git, and GitHub Actions, Splunk for monitoring, and basic networking knowledge. Experience with Kubernetes is a plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vault Management: Configure, deploy, and manage HashiCorp Vault clusters, including securing and managing secrets, tokens, policies, and access control.
  • Automation: Automate the integration of HashiCorp Vault into CI/CD pipelines and other DevOps workflows using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar.
  • Security Compliance: Ensure the application adheres to best practices for security, including compliance with organizational policies and external regulations.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilize IaC tools to manage and provision Vault infrastructure, ensuring repeatability and version control.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting for Vault operations using tools like Splunk to ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
Requirements
  • HashiCorp Vault: Experience deploying and managing HashiCorp Vault in production environments. Knowledge of Vault's authentication methods, secret engines, and access control mechanisms. Experience with managing Vault clusters, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • DevOps Tools and Technologies: CI/CD Pipelines: Expertise in setting up and integrating Vault with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure Devops. Infrastructure as Code: Proficient with Terraform for provisioning Vault infrastructure, and experience with other IaC tools like CloudFormation or Pulumi. Configuration Management: Experience with tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet for managing Vault configurations. Containerization and Orchestration: Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, including securing secrets within containerized environments using Vault. Version Control: Proficiency with Git for source code management and collaboration, including experience with GitHub Actions for automating workflows.
  • Linux Administration: Strong knowledge of Linux systems administration, including experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, and security hardening. Ability to manage and troubleshoot Linux-based environments hosting Vault and related services.
  • Security and Compliance: Understanding of security best practices, including encryption, key management, and access control. Experience with implementing Vault in a compliance-driven environment (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks. Ability to create and manage automation scripts to streamline Vault operations.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Experience with Splunk/New Relic for monitoring, logging, and alerting to track Vault's performance and security metrics. Familiarity with other monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana is a plus.
  • Basic Networking Knowledge: Understanding of networking concepts, including firewalls, VPNs, and secure network configurations. Ability to configure and troubleshoot network settings related to Vault and its integrations.
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or private cloud platforms (vmware, openstack) and their associated security services. Familiarity with integrating Vault with cloud-based services and infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: HashiCorp Certified: Vault Associate or HashiCorp Certified: Vault Operations Professional.
  • Experience with Other HashiCorp Tools: Experience with HashiCorp Consul or Nomad is a plus.
  • Kubernetes Experience: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for deploying and managing containerized applications.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote or hybrid environment.
