About this role

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team in implementing road safety and green mobility initiatives in Indian cities.

This is an opportunity to work on developing strategies for cities to mitigate the adverse effects of urbanization through policy frameworks, design reviews, and viable proposal development.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and operationalize a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) framework tailored for Mathura or other cities.

2. Conduct baseline assessment of vehicular and industrial emissions in the city.

3. Identify vehicle categories, emission thresholds, and compliance strategies for the LEZ.

4. Propose monitoring mechanisms (including use of Vahan data, ANPR, on-ground enforcement).

5. Assess and recommend sustainable mobility solutions: EV adoption pathways, public transport electrification, NMT (non-motorized transport) integration, and multimodal connectivity.

6. Support roadmap preparation for EV integration across municipal transport operations (buses, freight, paratransit).

7. Propose policies for encouraging clean fuels, scrappage of end-of-life vehicles, and charging infrastructure development.

8. Work with municipal corporation, UPPCB (Pollution Control Board), RTO, traffic police, and state EV cell.

9. Conduct consultations with local businesses, citizen groups, and transport operators to ensure smooth LEZ implementation.

10. Support awareness and capacity-building activities.

Key Requirements:

Design Analysis and Project Development:

* Understand site-specific urban challenges and create or support viable design strategies and proposals for their resolution.

Tactical Urbanism:

* Collaborate with the team to implement temporary design changes (tactical urbanism trials) to test improvements and gather feedback.

Training and Development:

* Conduct internal and external workshops to raise awareness and build capacity on street design and road safety principles.

Reporting and Communication:

* Prepare regular progress reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) for stakeholders, summarizing program activities and achievements.

Creative Development:

* Create visual aids like posters and presentations for training programs and community engagement initiatives.

Community Engagement and Outreach:

* Assist in organizing Raahgiri Days and other public awareness campaigns that promote street design for improved sustainability, safety, and community interaction.
