The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Developing and Implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Collaborate with parents, therapists, and other school staff to create personalized plans that cater to each student's needs and abilities.
- Delivering Instructional Support: Provide customized instruction to students based on their individual learning styles and needs.
- Modifying Curriculum: Adapt the standard curriculum to meet the diverse abilities of students with disabilities.
- Behaviour Management: Implement behaviour intervention plans and use positive behaviour supports to promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, counsellors, and parents to support students' academic and social development.
- Progress Monitoring and Assessment: Regularly assess and track student performance and progress, adjusting goals accordingly.
- Maintaining a Supportive Learning Environment: Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that promotes engagement and motivation among students.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's or P.G. Diploma or Master's degree in Special Education or equivalent in Multiple Disabilities.
- 3 to 7 years of experience working with children and adults with multiple disabilities.
- Patient, empathetic, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive aids and devices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Good organisational and documentation skills.
- Bilingual medium of instruction requires proficiency in English and Tamil.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and specialised instructional strategies.
