Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of a live, regulated financial platform in the Middle East.

This is a full-time contract role that requires core features, transactions, and secure APIs to power a product built for real customers and regulatory scrutiny.

The Role:

You will be responsible for building and extending backend services using TypeScript/Node.js, writing transactional business logic for financial flows (e.g. onboarding, withdrawals), designing and maintaining PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and queries, integrating with third-party APIs securely (OAuth2, JWT), improving existing systems for performance, reliability, and audit requirements, and collaborating via GitHub and CI/CD workflows.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement scalable and secure backend services.
  • Design and maintain efficient PostgreSQL databases.
  • Integrate with third-party APIs and services.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth delivery.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, preferably in financial services.
  • Strong skills in TypeScript/Node.js, productive from day one.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and serverless patterns.
  • PostgreSQL expertise, including schema design, performance tuning, and real-world queries.
  • A solid understanding of building secure, documented REST APIs.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.
