About the Role

Sr. IT Support Specialist

Edifecs is a leading technology company in the U.S. Healthcare market, and we are seeking a skilled Sr. IT Support Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patch, optimize, secure, and manage virtual and physical servers on MS Windows.
  • Work with onshore/offshore teams to support production and non-production servers (VMware and AWS).
  • Provide support for onsite and remote associates via Incidents and Service Requests related to virtual servers, client PCs, applications, peripherals, client networking (wired and wireless), etc.
  • Offer 1st/2nd level troubleshooting and proactively maintain end-user systems to ensure smooth operations (including MS Windows and Apple OS).
  • Evaluate new technologies and platforms to determine their applicability and alignment with the business' needs.
  • Provide mentoring and act as second-level escalation to junior staff members, such as NOC and Helpdesk administrators, Service Desk teams.
  • Participate in daily huddles, weekly, and monthly meetings, and report priorities, status updates, and any blockers.
  • Communicate the status, plan of action(s), and resolution(s) of issues proactively.
  • Be available for off-hours support, in case of emergencies, and for occasional onsite and off-site executive and company meetings.
  • Follow and help create standard procedures.
  • Assist IT staff in vendor coordination and management.
  • Be a team player, work as instructed by senior mentors, and document all changes and follow all IT policies and standards.
  • No issues in working night shifts or during weekends/holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned of a similar nature or level.
Required Skills and Experience

Skills and Knowledge

  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Exceptionally positive attitude and communication skills for working with both IT teams and executives.
  • Experience with supporting Microsoft technologies (Windows Server OS, IIS, AD, DNS, DHCP, Systems Center).
  • Expert experience supporting Windows Server, MS Windows 10, and Apple OS X.
  • Experience with desktop virtualization products (VMWare, Parallels, Citrix).
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office 2019+, MS Visio, and MS PowerPoint applications.
  • Experience with VPN, desktop backup software, Apple iPhones, Apple iPads, printers.
  • Experience with password resets, new account creations, email administration, VM patching, and maintenance.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Managing Incidents, Problems, Service Requests, and Change Management through an IT Service Management Tool (e.g., Remedy, FreshService, ServiceNow).
  • General understanding of structured cabling best practices and racking servers and basic network switch configurations.
  • General understanding of telephony and PBX support.
  • Experience with FreeBSD, UNIX, Linux, and open-source tools (a plus).
Education

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of IT experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies (Windows Server OS, IIS, AD, DNS, DHCP, Systems Center).
  • Experience with managing VMs running on VMware VCenter and AWS.
  • Certification as a MCITP Enterprise/MCM/MCSE or equivalent system engineering expertise (preferred).
  • Experience with some form of scripting language (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) (a plus).
  • Basic knowledge of Linux and AWS.
