As a gynecologist, you will embark on a challenging yet rewarding career path. Your day starts with finishing inpatient and outpatient duties on time.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate outpatient services and consult patients
  • Perform IUI and sonography procedures
  • Preset medications and requisition necessary supplies
  • Take rounds with assistant doctors and sisters to ensure patient files are complete and daily orders are checked
  • Monitor patient parameters, investigations, and charts
  • Advise necessary investigations and inform patients
  • Address patient complaints and take corrective actions

Operative Procedures:

  • Conduct OPU, ET, and HLScopy operations
  • Ensure timely commencement of scheduled operative procedures
  • Verify pre-operative preparation by OT sister
  • Assist or conduct OT washup
  • Enter anesthesia notes and document OT activities
  • Provide post-operative orders to assistant doctors

Post-Op Care:

  • Take immediate post-operative round after transferring patients
  • Ensure IPD sisters follow post-operative orders
  • Counsel patient relatives post-operatively
  • Verify software entries for post-operative findings

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Decide discharge and prepare discharge documents
  • Monitor all clinical staff
  • Attend emergency situations and complications
  • Participate in outreach programs

With experience, you can develop expertise in various areas of gynecology, including reproductive health, obstetrics, and pelvic surgery. You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.

You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, where no two days are alike. As a gynecologist, you will be required to think critically, make sound judgments, and prioritize tasks effectively.
