Business Sub Editor Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Business Sub Editor to join our organization. The ideal candidate will be skilled in the English language and possess exceptional editorial abilities.

The role of a Business Sub Editor is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and coherence of business content. You will work closely with the Editor to edit and refine business articles and reports, utilizing your attention to detail and strong editing skills under tight deadlines.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Writing, Editing, and Proofreading: Create high-quality business articles and reports that adhere to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style guidelines.
  • Editorial Judgment: Demonstrate excellent editorial judgment and a keen eye for detail to ensure the accuracy and quality of business content.
  • Deadline Management: Write succinctly, objectively, and accurately under deadline pressure.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Handle various subject areas effectively and efficiently.
  • Translation: Translate Hindi stories into English.
  • Fact-Checking: Verify facts, dates, statistics, and other information to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Style Adherence: Ensure all content adheres to the publication's style sheet, brand guidelines, and tonality.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with editors and team members to improve quality and coherence.
  • Research: Conduct research to fact-check and validate information.
  • Content Optimization: Rewrite or restructure sentences, paragraphs, or sections for clarity, readability, and conciseness.
  • Formatting: Ensure proper formatting, layout, and presentation, including headings, subheadings, bullet points, and lists.
  • Tone Consistency: Maintain consistent editorial style and tone across multiple articles or sections.
  • Visual Presentation: Collaborate with designers for engaging visual presentation.
  • Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and current events.
  • Editorial Policies: Assist in developing and implementing editorial policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Idea Generation: Contribute to brainstorming sessions and pitch ideas for new content.
  • Task Management: Handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritizing workload to meet deadlines.
  • Final Review: Conduct final reviews to ensure all edits have been incorporated correctly.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's/PG/Master's degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of the English language, including exceptional grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
  • Business Knowledge: Knowledge and ability to write/edit business copies.
  • Terminology: Knowledge of business terminology.
  • Editing Skills: Strong editing, proofreading, and fact-checking abilities.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Adaptability: Able to adjust to a well-defined editorial style and tone of voice.
  • Technical Skills: Technically savvy.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in using editing tools and software.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • SEO Knowledge: Knowledge of SEO best practices is a plus.
  • Digital Publishing: Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and content management systems is an advantage.

Salary Range: 200000-500000 INR per year
