Cloud Cost Optimization Expert

Abacus seeks a skilled professional to join their team as a Cloud Cost Optimization Specialist.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, scripting/programming, monitoring, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimize cloud infrastructure costs across AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms.
  • Track daily/weekly usage, spending patterns, and billing reports to identify anomalies.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for cost reporting, resource clean-up, and efficiency improvements using languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure optimal resource utilization.
  • Implement reserved instances, savings plans, auto-scaling policies, and storage lifecycle policies to minimize costs.
  • Utilize native tools like AWS Cost Explorer, CloudWatch, and GCP Billing, as well as third-party monitoring platforms.
  • Monitor infrastructure reliability while balancing costs to contribute to SRE/DevOps practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP services (EC2, S3, IAM, GKE, BigQuery, etc.).
  • Experience in cloud cost monitoring & optimization.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (Python, Bash, Shell, etc.).
  • Understanding of SRE concepts: reliability, scalability, monitoring, and automation.
  • Prior experience in cost analysis and optimization for enterprise workloads.
