We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect to join our team at Splunk Inc. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing cloud-scale architectures, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, specifically on public cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP. They will also have expertise in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting large-scale Kubernetes clusters in the public cloud.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Setting technical direction and authoring design documents
  • Developing new processes to improve team efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborating with other team leaders to orchestrate large system changes
  • Mentoring new engineers to achieve more than they thought possible

The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect will work on a variety of infrastructure projects, including:

  • Adopting new cloud-native frameworks and services
  • Automating cloud provider infrastructure via Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm
  • Developing code for tools and automation to reduce manual tasks and human error
  • Establishing and documenting run books and guidelines for using the multi-cloud infrastructure and microservices platform
  • Improving the resiliency of multi-cloud microservices platform
  • Networking, routing, and load balancing
  • Security vulnerability remediation and patching automation
  • Automating deployment of our services in new provider zones/regions
  • Designing and productionizing access tiers to provide appropriate permissions across roles

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code, as well as experience leading large-scale technical initiatives. They will also have excellent problem-solving, triaging, and debugging skills in large-scale distributed systems.

AWS Solutions Architect certification, CKA, and HashiCorp-certified Terraform Associate certifications are preferred. Experience with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Google Deployment Manager, Pulumi, Packer, ARM, and developing infrastructure or platform services using GoLang or Python are also desirable.

We are looking for a team player who can effectively work across teams and functions to influence the design, operations, and deployment of highly available software. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, is required.
