Job Title: Senior Cost Manager

Main Purpose:

The Senior Cost Manager will be responsible for overall cost management services, including managing precontract works such as prequalification of vendors, preparing tender documents, and arranging negotiation meetings. Post-contract works include bill certifications, variation management, and measurements of works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing tenders for clients and commercial bids to help bring in new business
  • Developing and presenting project proposals
  • Meeting with clients to find out their requirements
  • Producing plans and estimating budgets and timescales
  • Discussing, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating the terms of business contracts
  • Agreeing budgets and timescales with clients
  • Managing construction schedules and budgets
  • Dealing with any unexpected costs
  • Attending site meetings to monitor progress
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients, site, and project managers
  • Working with third parties to ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities
  • Making sure construction projects meet agreed technical standards
  • Liaising with technical and financial staff, sub-contractors, legal teams, and the client's own representatives
  • Overseeing invoicing at the end of a project
  • Drafting, evaluating, negotiating, and executing contracts
  • Establishing and maintaining supplier relationships by serving as a single point of contact for contractual matters
  • Managing record keeping for all contract-related correspondence and documentation
  • Providing contract-related issue resolution, both internally and externally
  • Monitoring and completing contract close-out, extension, or renewal, as appropriate
  • Communicating contract-related information to all stakeholders

Qualifications:

Civil - Industrial, residential, commercial building experience

NICMAR/equivalent would be an added advantage

  • Minimum of five years progressive responsibility with quantifiable results in contract negotiation, administration, and/or management
  • Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong contract modeling software skills
  • Robust skills in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, and Visio
  • Ability to meet project objectives within designated constraints
