A certification from AAPC or AHIMA is essential, along with strong leadership capabilities, client handling experience, and a deep understanding of the healthcare and medical coding industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of daily operations, including workload and staffing, hiring, disciplining, and performance appraisals.
  • Development of long-range and short-term goals, objectives, plans, and programs.
  • Assistance in planning, developing, and controlling the budget.
  • Evaluation of the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies, and procedures.

You will design systems and methods to improve data accessibility, identify, assess, and resolve problems, prepare administrative reports, oversee and monitor the coding compliance program, and ensure dissemination and communication of regulatory, policy, and guideline changes.

Conducting and overseeing coding audit efforts, coordinating monitoring of coding accuracy and documentation adequacy, and reporting non-compliance issues detected through auditing and monitoring are also crucial responsibilities.

Trend analyses to identify patterns and variations in coding practices and reviewing claim denials and rejections pertaining to coding and medical necessity issues are part of your duties.
