Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Merchandise Planning Strategist to join our team at Baazar Style Retail Ltd. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing competitive and sustainable category strategies for profitable growth, creating the framework for smooth functioning of the category, and attaining maximum merchandising efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute timely customer demand analysis and market trends study to inform merchandise buying decisions aligning with company goals.
  • Sources new merchandise and reviews existing items to ensure products remain competitive in the market.
  • Understands customer needs, maximizes profits, and provides a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices.
  • Derives business strategies by analyzing consumer buying patterns and predicts future trends.
  • Reviews and approves plans to purchase well in advance to address festival, occasions, and seasonal needs while working closely with the planning team.
  • Monitors and regularly reviews performance indicators, such as sales and discount levels, by driving plans for stock levels; reacting to changes in demand and logistics.
  • Acts as an escalation point for the Men's Category in the B&M team for managing supplier relations and leading strategies for negotiations and terms of contract; maintaining relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future products.
  • Handles the Men's category Business Sales & Margin delivery, responsible for category business top line and bottom line along with Working Capital management.
  • Reviews and validates the strategic sourcing (Domestic, Imported). Centrally accountable for merchandise timely delivery and availability at stores for Men's Category.
  • Expert in category assortment and Promotion Strategy (development and execution), along with category potential Mapping within stores and timely review the consumption Analysis for Men's Category.
  • Men's Category Head will be responsible for revenue generation at the store level.
  • Responsible for Mystery Shopping at least twice a month to understand customer needs, competitor product analysis, gauge the footfall on one category, to understand how the display of the merchandise is affecting the sales and giving feedbacks to the Planning and VM team.
  • Assortment Planning for Men's Category.
  • Introduction of a new product in every quarter for Men's Category.
  • Introducing new suppliers every year for Men's category. Also working on the concept of City buyer to minimize the operational cost involved in sourcing & buying.
  • Monitor costs and expenses to assist in budget preparation. OPEX cost controlling.
  • Formulate & Implement strategies for driving efficiency in bottom lines with focus on penalty and cost of operations.
  • Drive a performance-driven culture in the organization by timely monitoring, review of performance parameters and feedback to the team members.
  • Contribute towards development of talent for the function by providing subordinates with adequate exposure and growth opportunities to enable readiness for higher roles. Manage the performance of the team, setting objectives, giving regular feedback and addressing poor performance.
