Bookkeeper Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team on a permanent basis. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a vital role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping and accounting principles, with experience in managing financial data using QuickBooks or other similar software. You will be responsible for processing payroll, preparing financial reports, and reconciling bank statements.

  • Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations (BRS)
  • Process payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with Canadian regulations
  • Prepare financial reports, statements, and summaries for management review
  • Manage invoicing, billing, and collections efficiently
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Utilize advanced Excel functions for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation
  • Collaborate with external accountants and auditors as needed
  • Use accounting software (QuickBooks) proficiently to manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, or opportunities for improvement
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience; experience in healthcare or clinical setting is an asset
  • Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) or equivalent degree
  • Proficient in QuickBooks and other accounting software tools
  • Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations (BRS), accounts payable (AP), and Canadian payroll regulations
  • Advanced Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy and organizational skills
