About our Infrastructure Transformation

We are a software company offering a cloud-based platform that automates property measurements for landscapers and snow removal contractors.

Our goal is to reduce measurement time from one week to one day, aiming for just one hour with upcoming advancements.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to build our infrastructure from scratch. This role involves designing the foundation that will scale from thousands to millions of property measurements.

You will have the opportunity to make architectural decisions that will impact our systems for years to come.

You will work directly with our leadership team to define our infrastructure philosophy.

This is a role for someone who wants to own outcomes and drive growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design our cloud infrastructure on GCP from scratch, making crucial decisions on everything from network topology to data encryption strategies.
  • Create a CI/CD pipeline that takes us from 30-minute deployments to sub-5 minute deployments.
  • Build our infrastructure-as-code foundation using Terraform, establishing patterns that will be used for years.

Security & Compliance Architecture

  • Lead our security journey by building security into every layer of our infrastructure.
  • Implement customer-managed encryption and zero-trust networking as foundational principles, not afterthoughts.
  • Create automated security scanning and remediation systems that make compliance invisible to developers.

Platform Creation

  • Create a self-service platform that lets developers provision infrastructure in minutes, not days.
  • Create golden paths that make the secure, scalable choice the default choice.
  • Design observability systems that give developers superpowers in production.

Scale Preparation

  • Architect systems that can handle 100x growth without major rewrites.
  • Build cost optimization into our DNA - making smart resource decisions early.
  • Create disaster recovery and backup systems before we need them.

Goals

  • Complete infrastructure migration to Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Sub-5 minute deployments with automatic rollbacks.
  • 99.9% uptime with comprehensive monitoring.
  • Full security compliance with automated controls.
  • A self-service platform used by every engineer daily.
  • 50% reduction in infrastructure costs through optimization.

Technical Requirements

  • Deep expertise with GCP services and cloud architecture.
  • Strong experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
  • Proficiency in Go or Python for automation.
  • Understanding of security best practices and compliance frameworks.
