Design Engineer Job Description

The primary role of a Design Engineer is to develop and implement designs for various products and systems. This involves creating detailed drawings, models, and prototypes to ensure that the final product meets the required specifications.

A successful Design Engineer must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement design concepts and ideas.
  2. Create detailed drawings and models using CAD software.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design alignment with business objectives.
  4. Conduct research and analysis to inform design decisions.
  5. Ensure designs meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of design principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Solid Edge).
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in design engineering.

Additional Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with software such as Auto-CAD and Solid edge.
  • Arrangement (GA) drawing and The ability to create general detailed fabrication drawing essential.
  • Prepares detailed material take-offs on projects based upon drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience of drawing presentation, critical dimensioning, view presentations and parts list preparation.
  • Must have knowledge of manufacturing processes like laser cutting, bending, welding, basic machining.
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience on advance assemblies and layouts with GD&T, surface finishes, welding details and engineering notes.
  • Working knowledge of SAP system (Better to have).
  • Experience in making GA layouts will be an added advantage.
  • At least 1+ years of hands-on experience in Solid edge.
  • Quick learner and adopt the existing system.
