Job Title: Certifier II

Job Summary:

The Certifier II is a key member of our team responsible for ensuring the conformity of products to national and international standards. This role involves managing certification projects, evaluating products against requirements, and delivering high-quality results within agreed timeframes and budgets.

Responsibilities:

Performance:

  • Independently manage certification projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety requirements and achieving completion within timeframes and cost deadlines.
  • Evaluate products against requirements of national/international standards and precedent decisions.
  • Handle a wide spectrum of projects, including complex ones, generating high revenue levels.
  • Deliver assigned projects/tests within agreed timescales, with the majority of results meeting expectations.
  • Accurately manage project costs within the agreed budget.
  • Maintain good productivity in line with company expectations.
  • Demonstrate technical competence to review the work of others, per divisional quality documents.
  • Perform witness testing, per divisional quality documents.
  • Review test data and reports, authorizing the application of the CSA Mark. Prepare and/or sign Certification Reports and Certificates of Compliance.
  • Provide clients with assistance in solving problems/failures, without divulging proprietary information.

Customer:

  • Work with sales to support current clients and develop new client opportunities, supporting growth.
  • Prepare project quotations for cost and time.
  • Explain the different product certification programs available to clients and the requirements for control of production.

Testing:

  • Perform within established DQD guidelines.
  • Prepare Test Lab Work Orders and Special Testing Documentation, including details regarding applicable sections of relevant standards, test sample plan, data collection methods, and tables.
  • Provide necessary guidance to Lab Technicians to ensure proper application of requirements and data collection methods are in line.
  • Demonstrate experience of performing common testing within CSA laboratories.
  • Make field trips and witness test work at manufacturer's facilities, as required.

Self-Development:

  • The Certifier II is subject to internal audits for compliance and competence.
  • Participate in CSA Group Continuous Improvement and Innovation projects.
  • Make recommendations on new programs/equipment to expand core capabilities.
  • Generate ideas to improve laboratory safety.
  • Become fully knowledgeable in all national/international standards through research of standards, documentation, bulletins, and technical articles in the area of specialty. Recommend revisions to ensure technical consistency to resolve issues of pertinent practices, processes, and precedents.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with likely 5 years of job-related experience, or Diploma in Engineering, with likely 7 years of job-related experience.
