About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Process Engineer to join our team at SBM Offshore. As a Principal Process Engineer, you will be responsible for contributing to the expertise and knowledge within the Process discipline, developing and improving corporate process engineering calculation tools and guidelines, and providing support to all ongoing brownfield and greenfield projects executed in our Bengaluru office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take the lead role on proposals and prepare discipline hour estimates for EPC projects.
  • Lead/attend design review meetings and participate in HAZOP review meetings.
  • Evaluate and incorporate project Lessons Learned to improve process engineering guidelines and work instructions.
  • Act as consultant and mentor to less experienced engineers to ensure knowledge transfer, product memory, and application of best engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of process engineering and process safety fundamentals as well as preparation of quality engineering documents.
  • Collaborate with others to propose/optimize methodologies for engineering activities and working methods to enable fast-track project execution.
  • Perform activities in compliance with SBM Group Technical Standards, Engineering Standards, corporate Processes and Work Instructions.
  • Checking/Preparation of all Process Calculations for Equipment sizing, Line sizing, Pump Hydraulics, PSV sizing, Blowdown etc.
  • Capable of managing a team of process engineers (typically 10+ engineers).
  • Capable of coaching and developing less experienced engineers and to guide experienced engineers with changes in engineering methods and work processes.
  • Development of PFD, P&ID, Equipment Datasheets, Instrument Datasheets, SAFE Charts, Cause & Effect Diagrams and Process Safeguarding documentation.
  • Conversant with relevant international standards applicable to hydrocarbon processing industry, such as API, ISO, ASME, IEC, etc.
  • Familiar with design review methods, such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL Assessment.
  • Good experience in steady state & dynamic simulation of Oil & Gas plant (using Hysys or UniSim software).
  • Having good experience in the offshore Oil & Gas industry with specific experience on Process Simulation and Design for Offshore Oil and Gas facilities – Wellhead platforms, Fixed Process Platforms, FPSO topsides modules & Turret Mooring System.
  • Review of vendor documents and technical bid evaluation.
  • Assess potential risks to integrated process & utilities and develop initiatives- taking mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions, including during commissioning, start-up, and early operations.

Education and Experience

  • Academic: Bachelor/Master of Technology - Chemical Engineering.
  • Exp: At least 15 years of relevant experience, incl. conceptual design, FEED and EPC project experience for offshore Oil & Gas projects (preferably FPSO) and at least 4 years of experience as lead / principal engineer.
  • SW or tools: HYSYS, UNISIM, PIPESIM, FLARENET, PIPENET etc.
