Climate Resilience Strategist

This is a key role in developing and implementing climate adaptation strategies to help organizations, governments and communities adapt to the impacts of climate change.

• Integrate climate adaptation priorities into strategic planning frameworks, ensuring alignment with national development goals.
• Conduct vulnerability and risk assessments across sectors such as agriculture, water, health, biodiversity, and coastal ecosystems to inform strategic planning and prioritization of adaptation responses.
• Apply climate models and risk analytics to identify and size adaptation measures with clear outcomes, implementation timelines, and cost estimates.
• Evaluate techno-commercial feasibility of proposed interventions and map relevant financing sources for climate adaptation.
• Support the preparation of funding proposals for climate adaptation, including those targeting international mechanisms.
• Facilitate inclusive stakeholder consultations, engaging government agencies, civil society, youth, women, and vulnerable groups to align adaptation strategies with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national development plans.
• Design Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems in line with Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) requirements.
• Draft technical content for reports, presentations, and policy briefs tailored to diverse audiences, providing policy recommendations that strengthen climate resilience and adaptation integration.
• Collaborate with public and private sector stakeholders to support implementation and resource mobilization for effective climate adaptation.

• Advanced degree in climate science, environmental studies, sustainable development, natural resource management, or related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or related fields, preferably in developing country contexts.
• Proven involvement in developing or updating Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Long-Term Low-Emission Development Strategies (LT-LEDS), or National Adaptation Plans (NAPs).
• Proficiency in conducting vulnerability and risk assessments and translating findings into actionable strategies for effective adaptation planning.
• Strong grasp of techno-commercial analysis, cost estimation, and financing pathways for climate adaptation projects.
• Familiarity with climate finance mechanisms, including international funds.
• Effective communication, analytical thinking, and facilitation skills for successful collaboration with stakeholders.

• Prior experience supporting national governments in climate strategy development.
• Background in climate and sustainability consulting or advisory roles, with a focus on adaptation planning.
• Knowledge of ecosystem-based adaptation, nature-based solutions, and coastal resilience approaches for effective climate adaptation.
• Ability to integrate gender and social inclusion into adaptation planning, ensuring equitable access to benefits and opportunities.
• Skilled in translating technical analysis into policy guidance and investment strategies for climate adaptation.
