Backend Software Engineering Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Senior Python Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale high-performance backend services for our global art information platform. In this role, you will work on integrating advanced AI/ML models into production systems, powering features like recommendations, personalization, and intelligent search.

This is an ideal position for someone passionate about backend engineering and excited to bring AI-powered user experiences to life at scale. Experience in recommendation systems is a strong advantage but not a strict requirement.

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services in Python (FastAPI, Django, or Flask) using best practices for code quality and testing.
  • Integrate machine learning models into production APIs and pipelines for recommendations and personalization, ensuring seamless collaboration with ML engineers and product teams.
  • Develop low-latency APIs for serving recommendations and intelligent results, leveraging vector databases like Qdrant, Pinecone, or Elasticsearch for similarity search and embeddings.
  • Deploy, monitor, and scale services in cloud environments, focusing on performance optimization and system architecture.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines with strong testing and code quality practices, ensuring smooth deployment and maintenance of production-ready APIs.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of backend architecture and distributed systems, including database expertise in SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (Redis, Elasticsearch).
  • Proven track record of building and deploying production-ready APIs, with hands-on experience in cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in remote team settings, with the ability to contribute to system architecture, performance optimization, and design decisions.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with recommendation systems or personalization pipelines, including familiarity with vector databases and embedding-based search.
  • Frontend integration knowledge (React, Next.js, GraphQL), as well as experience monitoring and optimizing ML-powered production systems (Prometheus, Grafana).
