Urban Mobility Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Urban Mobility Specialist to join our mission of creating healthier, more sustainable urban environments in Indian cities.

In this role, you will play a key part in developing and implementing strategies for cities to mitigate the effects of urbanization through policy frameworks, design reviews, and proposal development.

• Develop a tailored Low Emission Zone (LEZ) framework for Mathura, aligned with city-specific needs.
• Conduct a thorough baseline assessment of vehicular and industrial emissions in the city, identifying areas of improvement.
• Design vehicle categories, emission thresholds, and compliance strategies for the LEZ, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency.
• Propose monitoring mechanisms, including the use of Vahan data, ANPR, and on-ground enforcement, to ensure smooth implementation.
• Assess and recommend sustainable mobility solutions, such as EV adoption pathways, public transport electrification, NMT integration, and multimodal connectivity, to enhance urban livability.
• Support the preparation of a roadmap for EV integration across municipal transport operations, including buses, freight, and paratransit services.
• Develop policies encouraging clean fuels, scrappage of end-of-life vehicles, and charging infrastructure development to promote a cleaner urban environment.
• Collaborate with municipal corporation, UPPCB, RTO, traffic police, and state EV cell to ensure seamless implementation.
• Engage with local businesses, citizen groups, and transport operators to ensure smooth LEZ implementation, conducting consultations and awareness activities as needed.
• Support capacity-building initiatives to enhance stakeholder understanding and buy-in.

• Master's degree in environmental science, urban planning, or design, with expertise in allied disciplines.
• Proven experience working on urban spatial and/or environmental issues, preferably in air pollution control, EV policy integration, and urban design.
• In-depth knowledge of urban mobility challenges and policies, with a focus on sustainability and livability.
• Excellent research, data analysis, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information effectively.
• Ability to work independently in a remote location, as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines and delivering results.
• Responsiveness to stakeholder needs and requirements, with a customer-centric approach.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and data analysis tools, such as ArcGIS and R, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
• Hindi and English fluency is a must, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
